The Ninja is Back

Well it has been a while since I posted here (over a year) so I thought it was time to bring back the Ninja Monkey.

I have returned to the beginning of the planning stages so that I can make the story surrounding Ryu even more rich, diverse and exciting. Luckily I think Ryu's and Sunny's stories are pretty much ok as they are so there will not be many changes to them.

Hopefully in a few months time when I have everything sorted out I can begin the process of looking for an artist et al (inker, letterer etc) to help me bring Ryu Hisaru to the world via a free web comic.

Shaolin Simian

Sun (Sunny) Yo Pak aka The Shaolin Simian is another character in the Ninja Monkey universe. Whilst not as powerful as Ryu himself, Sunny is an accomplished martial artist and has won many titles, inlcuding world champion (but only because Ryu has never entered).

Sunny is Ryu's best friend and has been ever since they met during a fight to save a village. When a group of bandits and robbers layed siege to a village that Sunny was passing through the young shaolin monk used all his martial art skills to try and defend the village, but there were too many of them and the odds were not in Sunnys favour.

Sunny would have lost if it were not for the timely intervention of a young monkey who displayed almost supernatural martial arts abilities, together they beat back the bandits and the Shaolin Simian and Ninja Monkey have been best friends ever since.

Sunny is the serious one of the pair and is constantly the fall guy in Ryu's practical joke, which while he would never admit it to Ryu, Sunny actually finds very funny.

Dark Ryu

So who is this new kid on the block. Well the simple answer is Dark Ryu.

I don't have a complete history worked out for him yet but basically he is an alternate version of Ryu Hisaru -The Ninja Monkey, who was transported into this dimension.

A force of pure evil and just as powerful as the original Ninja Monkey, Dark Ryu is probably Ryu Hisaru's greatest enemy.

(Oh and Dark refers to evil not the color of his clothes.)

Evolution

Well for those of you who have been following Ninja Monkey over at Digital Webbing Forums you will know that while his basic look has remained the same he has gobe through a few changes as shown here

As you can see, like I said while his basic look has remained the same there are a few slight changes, such as the size of his head compared to his body, and he is a bit more buff.

Who is the Ninja Monkey

Yes there have been many Ninja Monkey's floating around the world wide web but I don't concern myself with them, this blog is dedicated to my own Ninja Monkey.

But who is this Ninja Monkey.

Well his real name is Ryu Hisaru (what? you didn't think his parents named him Ninja Monkey did you?). He is the only son of a low ranking Ninja from a secret clan of Monkey Ninjas and a local washerwoman who did odd jobs for the clan.

When he was old enough to begin his training to become a Ninja it soon became apparent that he could possibly be the greatest fighter that the world had seen. His skill, strength, determination and power rose far faster than anyone expected and when he should still only be a novice he was easily defeating grandmasters in friendly tournaments.

When he turned 15 he entered the sacred competition to decide who would take over the role of Ninja Monkey, a title only giving to exceptional fighters who have demonstrated that they have the skill to earn it, the previous holder having just died of old age.

Unsurprisingly Ryu easily beat the other contestants and claimed the title of Ninja Monkey.

4 years later while he was out runnign an errand for his aging father a gang of mercernaries led by a sinister figure known only as the Samurai attacked Ryu's village, killing everyone and burning it to the ground.

Ryu returned home only to find it in ruins and a red banner with the mark of the Samurai fluttering over the remains of the Sacred Temple where all the past Ninja Monkey's were laid to rest.

Vowing revenge Ryu grabbed what weapons were left and chased after the Samurai.
